I believe in people- the goodness of people, that people care about each other and that it is the people in our lives that make life special. “Umuntu ngumuntu ngabantu” – A person is only a person through other persons. I am grateful for the people that the Lord has put in my life, for my parents, my friends and every one who has supported me thus far. \I believe in being enthusiastic about life- in doing everything to the best of my abilities, in being passionate about my studies and being in the moment while also preparing for the future.
I am a well determined young to be a professional Chartered Accountant who is motivated by success. My aspiration to study accounting has stemmed from my lasting interest in current affairs and world development. Prosperity and victory is my motto, and academically speaking, “I believe that I can change this world and make it a better place through the knowledge I am gathering”.
My personal philosophy is to give my best in everything I do, and to live my life so that people can see God’s love through my actions. I am a very positive person and love working with people.
By receiving the bursary from the Keith Bothongo Foundation I was given the opportunity to study a degree I truly have a passion for, Supply Chain Management. To further my knowledge in the field I am currently studying towards an Honours degree in Business Management.
Itumeleng’s financial difficulties never got in the way of her vision of success in the field of accountancy. She has fought every battle that has come her way and has overcome all obstacles to get to where she is today. The Keith Bothongo Foundation is proud of having her as a member of our family.
Throughout the course of my life there are certain values that have stood out for me above others; namely Integrity, honour, trust and honesty. As an inspiring chartered accountant, I hold these values close to me and try having them transpire through all that I do in achieving my goals career wise. I am also a family orientated individual, who looks at those close to me for support and encouragement while at the same time offering myself as a support structure to those in my community.
In any path of life, one will have to overcome various obstacles to achieve success. I believe that with hard work, dedication and the right attitude, anything can be accomplished. The obstacles I have faced made me into the person I am today, and for that I am grateful. I am also thankful to the Bothongo Foundation for providing me with an opportunity to better myself and in turn, the world.
Enerst has shown exceptional leadership qualities to date. His vision of being a captain of industry is supported by his leadership qualities, his raw ambition and his never-say-die attitude. The Keith Bothongo Foundation is exceptionally proud of Enerst and look forward to one day working with him in the professional arena.
Time is the most limited resource in the world .It always runs out but cannot be replaced . Each day is a gift voucher to spend 24 hours .It my responsibility to choose whether the use the 24 hour in the best way possible or waste it . I take each day as separate life with each day presenting an opportunity to do more and better .
My aspiration in life is to be happy and making a difference to other people's lives. I talk more about my blessings than my problems. Just because I was struggling doesn't mean I was failing and I never stopped trying even when I saw my future blurry. An inner voice told me that every great success requires some type of worthy struggle to get there.
In this inevitable journey of life, I want to do more than just exist... I want to LIVE and reach my full potential. THANK YOU Mr. Keith Bothongo for giving me the opportunity to not only live, but to THRIVE!
"Rise above your circumstances", these are the wise words that helped me overcome all the stepping stones in my life thus far, stepping stones which made me realise that the difference between a successful person and others is not a lack of strength or knowledge, but a lack of will. Therefor, waking up with determination is my only key to success.
My inspiration in life comes from people who have experienced hardships but refuse to give up.
I believe that everything happens for a reason and through God everything is possible.
Losing my parents at the age of ten was a very painful experience, but through my grandparents who have been my source of strength, hope, love and support to this day, I managed to pull through. I am a dedicated, enthusiastic and passionate person. I live by this words by Nelson Mandela "Education is the only weapon we can use to change the world".They keeps me going.
People aspire to become many things in this life, my greatest value and the root of all my ambition is servant leadership. My dreams far surpass the success of one individual but I believe it’s about empowerment of all those who will see that possibilities present themselves when you plan, persevere and pray. I love my country and one day I will be part of the deciding voice on what our future will look like as the lady Governor of the Reserve Bank of South Africa.
I want to become one of the little black female Chattered Accountants in South Africa. I value the power of education because I believe it takes a person to whichever heights they want to reach. I am motivated and inspired also by how important education is to Mr Bothongo. I am not just honoured to have received a bursary but it's accompanied by dash of inspiration.I am highly ambitious and confident i will get to the title CA(SA) regardless of obstacles along the way and do away with all the negativity that comes my way.
I believe that in life you can become as great as you can imagine , with the combination of three imperative things; Opportunity, hard work and perseverance. The Keith Bothongo foundation has given me the opportunity to empower myself in a field that I am passionate about, which is fashion design. Through the bursary I have been granted, I have been able to obtain qualifications in Bachelors of Business Administration, which will help me understand what it takes to turn my passion into a power brand.
Katlego believes that his background cannot determine his future, he also believes that he can make a difference in his life, the lives of his family and his community through the education he will obtain. The Keith Bothongo Foundation is proud to invest in Katlego as a student as it believes that Katlego will one day take that investment and reinvest in those who require his assistance.
I’m a self-driven individual who seeks the need to broaden my own horizons, by means of equipping myself with the outmost resources there is. I believe in living a dream than having a
dream. Having said that, it is with my most capabilities to see to it that one day I become one of the best Professionals within the Accounting sector, as I already live a dream of an Accountant.
I was proud to have been selected as one of the North West University (Mafikeng Campus) representatives in the global walk programme which was held in South Korea in 2013.
I live by John Schar's words that “The future is not some place we are going, but one we are creating. The paths are not to be found, but made. And the activity of making them changes both the maker and the destination.” In each one of us is an opportunity to be great despite of the circumstances we are born into, it all depends on us and how we use the opportunities that have been granted to us.
I have found that more often than not, regardless of what difficulties one may face, persistence beats resistance. For many - myself included - access to opportunities are limited. The majority of young Africans are structurally excluded from opportunities and it is only through sheer determination that the numerous barriers to reaching ones potential are overcome. I endeavour to remain persistent in my personal development and use the opportunities I have amassed along the way to give others a foot in the otherwise tightly shut door.
My first and most important basic belief is that never allow yourself to be the victim, when life throws lemons, make lemonade. Loosing my mother at the age of eleven and having my father neglect me after that was meant to destroy me but instead I chose a more positive approach to life. I wake up every morning wanting to break the poverty line in my family and also creating a bright future for my unborn children. Yes life puts on a good fight but I believe one may lose the battle but never the war. With God by my side I believe I can do all that I set my mind to
I am a young man whose religious and my passion is embedded in the aviation industry. I believe that in life we have the power to change any situation into a positive and that is the key to creating greatness. With my Commercial Pilot License already in my pocket thanks to the Keith Bothongo Foundation, the sky is not my summit but a milestone. I intend on eventually broadening to the aviation management field being a chief pilot and owning my own charter company making opportunities for newly aspiring pilots to gain hours. With the Lord on my side all things are possible.
Personal Philosophy: Luke 1:37 – “For with God, nothing shall be impossible.” I believe that everything can be accomplished, but it should never be done to the detriment of others. I would like to accomplish a lot in life, but in such a way that I also make others’ lives better in the process.
Goals: I’m a big dreamer and believe that much lies ahead in my future. I truly do admire Mr.B and would like to accomplish things in just as big proportions. It may not be easy, but I believe I can, even though right now, I may not know how. In time, I will.
Mihlali believes that nothing is impossible. Her determination to succeed is spurred on by her desire to create opportunities for her sibling. Being orphaned at a young age, the responsibility of her younger brother fell squarely on Mihlali’s shoulders. It is this responsibility that has made her conscious of the many disadvantaged children in her community and has encouraged her to work hard and try and be an example of success at all odds. The Keith Bothongo Foundation is proud of Mihlali and her journey thus far and would like to accompany her on her guaranteed road to success.
I am young optimistic man who believes that “you can accomplish anything that you put your mind and strength in”. I also believe that we all have some gift that God gave us but it is just within us to make something out of it. Our past doesn’t determine our future it is just there to remind us of where we come from. In everything I’ve learnt about life, I’ve learnt to always have faith, Love and respect. In my life God comes first everything.
I believe personal philosophy/values play a major role in contributing towards an individuals personal growth. Values are like a guiding principle that dictates whats wrong and whats right. I have quite a long list of values: number one is Family, then Love, Education, Happiness and Respect for others
Family is everything, always there for us in good and in bad times, always providing support, always pushing us to achieve our dreams even when we feel like giving up.
Life has taught me to ignore negativity coming from other people as they do not determine my journey. Fact is in life you can’t make everyone happy you just have to choose what matters to you the most. The most important principle I leave by is to never lose myself in the process of trying to please other people, fact is not everyone will understand your journey and that is fine it was never theirs to understand.
I am a young lady aspiring to be an Economist. I have great interest in international and labour economics. I would like to be known one day for my expertise in my chosen field of career.
Once I have finished my undergraduate degree, I am going to do honours in economics and there after start working. My long term goal is that I want to have a PhD in Labour and International Economics. My ultimate goal is to be an entrepreneur, and I would like to take the real estate route.
Throughout my life the one principle that I have constantly believed in more than anything is never giving up. Failure is a part of life but what sets people a part is one’s ability to get up and trying again after they have failed. I truly believe in what Thomas Edison said “I have not failed. I’ve just found 10 000 ways that won’t work”. No matter what happens you have to get up and try again.
Thulisile’s upbringing at Tembisa Child Welfare has not deterred her from reaching for the stars. She lists her determination, dedication, confidence and passion as the foundation for her success. She believes in giving back and her choice of studies is a reflection of her dedication to give back to those less fortunate. The Keith Bothongo Foundation wishes Thulisile every success and pledges our support to her.
“If a man is called to be a street sweeper, he should sweep streets even as Michelangelo painted, or Beethoven composed music, or Shakespeare wrote poetry. He should sweep streets so well that all the hosts of heaven and earth will pause to say 'Here lived a great street sweeper who did his job well.” -Martin Luther King, Jr.
My life philosophy, just as mentioned in the quote above, is, that whatever it is I do, I should do it so well that the dead, the living and the unborn could not do it better.
I am a kind-hearted free thinker and as such my view on life is that, given the opportunity you can accomplish whatever you set your mind to. I have always been drawn to all thing Tech from an early age and with every advancement in the tech world my desire to someday be a part of that world grew. I am truly grateful for the Bothongo group and the opportunity they have given me to further my horizons and go beyond.
Mr Keith Bothongo, the Founder of this extraordinary foundation believes that education is the most effective and sustainable way to help with the upliftment of the underprivileged people of our community. By assisting these underprivileged students to complete a degree and therefore create the opportunity for them to earn a decent income, this would also assist in the financial needs of their families.
The Keith Bothongo Foundation is proud to sponsor underprivileged students from all over South Africa to study towards business degrees. These students were carefully selected with the help of the Universities that followed strict criteria with the selection process.
The sponsorship can include Tuition Fees, Residence Costs, Meals, Books, a Monthly Living allowance and a Notebook Computer. In return for such a full sponsorship from The Keith Bothongo Foundation, these students are only expected to pass their relevant courses and to take part in an organized community upliftment project.
